KERRY MCINTYRE

DAW musician and malpractice survivor

I'm a musician and survivor of 29 years of medical system failures including malpractice, trying to bloom again.

My life is very different now because of my unusual disabilities and limitations. Now my CSF leaks let me spend very little time upright.  I'm fine somewhat reclined, use a pedal wheelchair to get around, and need to live in a place with many things provided.

I can't perform anymore, but I'm a DAW composer now. I mostly use Logic and SINE, but also use Kontakt and other music software. For video I use Final Cut Pro, and for graphics I use Adobe software and others.

I got a Master of Music from Indiana University in 1982 and a Bachelor of Music from the University of Akron in 1980. My major instrument always was flute, but I also played lots of viola, took lots of theory classes, and branched out with other instruments. I was an Army bandsman for 8 years, with many happy years in the FORSCOM band.

My life got derailed by my first medication disaster in the Army in 1988. Then I spent decades zombified in a prescribed black hole,  enduring decades of primary misdiagnosis, multiple misdiagnosed adverse reactions, and toxic over medication.

By 2016 my body fell apart from multiple dismissed adverse reactions and toxic over mediation. In 2017 I quit and refused any more psych meds, could finally think decently again and got much better. However I have permanent disabilities, some progressive.

When COVID isolation began I took Berklee online classes, learned the DAW, finally finding a way to be a musician again as a DAW musician.

Now I need to increase awareness of adverse reactions, especially SSRI akathisia and the consequences of long term high potency anticholinergics, and CSF leaks.
